Blohm+Voss is a german shipyard specialising in the repairs and refits of iconic maritime giants. As part of the family-owned Lürssen group since 2016, the yard is well-known for yacht refits and commercial repairs, as well as building naval vessels and providing other maritime and industrial services. The yard operates seven docks in Hamburg and with personnel throughout the world, the Blohm+Voss shipyard has a powerful local supplier network and can access any spare parts or sub-contractor required to deliver turnkey solutions, time-critical repairs, ship conversion and maintenance services, however difficult the job may be.
Established in 1877 by Hermann Blohm and Ernst Voss, Blohm+Voss began by building iron steamships in Hamburg, pioneering berths for vessels up to 100 meters long. They later diversified, constructing a range of vessels, including the famous passenger liner Europa.

Superyachts for the Elite
Blohm+Voss’ success started in the early part of the 20th century as they started to build luxury superyachts for royalty and wealthy celebrities. One such yacht is 124m superyacht Savarona, launched in 1931 for an American heiress, and later the Turkish Presidential yacht.

Diversification
With the war looming, Blohm+Voss diversified into building warplanes and submarines in the 1930s and delivered the infamous German warship Bismark, which was the biggest European warship of the time. Recovery for Blohm+Voss was slow following the war, and they made a few different products, including oil-rigs.

Lürssen Acquires Blohm+Voss
In 2005, yacht builder Blohm+Voss was acquired by ThyseenKrupp AG. In 2008, the shipyard delivered the enduring motor yacht A, a 119m superyacht. In 2016, the yard was acquired by Lürssen.
