YOUR GUIDE TO CENTRAL AMERICA

TAKE IT EASY

Central America has beaches like Nicaragua’s Playa Guacalito where you can surf, birdwatch or climb volcanoes in a day. Yet cellular signals are from the 1990s. It has whale shark migration hotspots like Honduras’s Guanaja Island. But only a handful of scuba stores. It has footprint-free archipelagos frequented by humpbacks, like Panama’s Parida Islands. Yet only beach shacks made from coconut fronds.

Two Oceans

The inspiration behind such adventures? Central America boasts two oceans, not one. The Atlantic guarantees shipwreck dives and powder sand. The Pacific promises jungle waterfalls and breaching whales. Even the journey between the two oceans, via the Panama Canal, is a zoological celebration of spider monkeys and toucans. Want to shoot your own Disney documentary? Try Costa Rica. It has 250 mammal species, 250 reptile species and nearly 1,000 avian species. It’s Eden. With added sun.

Archaeological Finds

There’s more. Because when Europeans were living in straw huts, the ancient Maya civilisation was building pyramids, observatories and sports arenas. A Y.CO Charter Specialist can help you discover the best archeological remains like Copan in Honduras. Via tuk-tuks, rope ladders and coffee plantations. And Caracol in Belize. Which remains the country’s tallest structure 2,000 years on. Every new anchorage offers a memory of a lifetime.
