Stockholm

Capital Of Cool

14 Main Islands. One Amazing Yacht.

Sweden’s capital has an island just for you. Södermalm for Brooklyn-style boutiques and Stieg Larsson stories. Djurgården for forests and museums. Långholmen for kayaks and cafés. Gamla Stan for Stockholm a century ago. Your Y.CO charter yacht can moor alongside. Better still, the sea is so clean that Stockholmers swim off their 14 islands in summer. In winter? They skate.

INSPIRATIONAL ITINERARIES IN SWEDEN

Island Strolls

Stockholm receives more sun than London. Come summer, 18 hours of daylight scorch rooftop bars like TAK, which mixes lychee, umami and Absolut cocktails. And Loopen, a restaurant that floats in the Baltic Sea. Sunshine makes Stockholm a venue for outdoor clubs and al fresco dinners on deck. Sleep tight. Because tomorrow is an action-packed day of island strolls and wildlife safaris. The fun never stops.

A 30,000 Island Archipelago

There are 30,000 reasons to anchor in the Stockholm Archipelago. Islands, rocks and skerries provide serenity, swimming and fabulous seafood, within a 60-minute sail from the city. Your Y.CO charter yacht is larger than several islands, where crew can organise a round-the-island rowing race. The most yacht-friendly island, Sandhamm, is a sandy profusion of fishers’ huts, art installations and cycle routes.

The World’s Cleanest City

Stockholm is Europe’s greenest city. Which means you can jog through a National Park, paddleboard through downtown and cast a fishing rod from a seaside café. Our favourite tour takes place on sustainable wooden bicycles. Pedal through the Venice of Scandinavia via the Royal Palace and leafy Djurgården Island. A refreshing dip in a Baltic lake is optional. Stress and pollution are 20th-century problems.

Café Culture

Scandis are Europe's biggest coffee drinkers. Swedes have taken café culture to another level with Fika, which roughly translates as coffee and cake, but is more like a convivial state of mind. Pair a flat white with cardamom buns (kardemummabulle) and raspberry caves (hallongrotta) and watch Europe’s most relaxed city waltz by. The best cafés include Glassbar in the modernistic Nationalmuseum, and Rosendals, sited in a greenhouse alive with tomato plants.
