Take To The Skye

Skye grabs at the Atlantic Ocean like a green lobster claw. The island’s jagged coast rises into totemic rock pinnacles like the Old Man of Storr, which resembles Stonehenge-in-the-air. The island’s 3,000ft mountains are 100% feral. The Cuillin Munros range look like the Andes in miniature. Skye has a softer side. With timeless ports, SUP trips to whisky houses and fly fishing from your beach platform. Cast a line today.

1,650 Square Kilometres Of Adventure

Need a snapshot of Skye? Imagine Norway with golden eagles and red deer. Adrenaline is pumped by coasteering, a sport where participants jump from RIB to cliffs, to climb and scramble, before leaping into the sea. Try only-do-here activities like wild trout fishing and deer stalking with an experienced ghillie, a traditional Scottish guide. Need for less speed? Paddle Canadian canoes on an inland loch. Action stops at sunset. That’s 10pm in summer.

The Food

Loch Bay Restaurant, a Michelin-starred establishment stranded on Skye’s northwest tip, will tear you away from your superyacht chef. Order scallops dived that morning, and razor clams with Scottish greens. Skye’s tastiest export is long-tailed langoustines. These crustaceans are used to great effect by young islander chef, Calum Montgomery, at Edinbane Lodge. Their venison salami and Waternish crab will leave you breathless.

The Nature

Skye’s isolation renders it Edenic. Look out over your charter yacht’s guardrail to see basking sharks grazing in the morning mist. Or grey seals and dolphins hunting for fish. Inland it’s like the 20th century never happened. Follow our nature guide to spot mighty stags. You might see a wild hare - if it hasn’t been snapped up by a wild cat or pine marten first.

Talisker Whisky

Skye's leading single malt whisky is a fabulous tipple. Ride in your RIB to take the Talisker tour. The story starts two centuries ago when the MacAskill brothers founded a seafront distillery (the local clergy were not amused). Talisker’s flavour mirrors Skye’s topography: rugged, refined, salty and intense. Look out for Talisker Storm, with its broody, moody, maritime tang. Talisker is classed among the best whiskies in the world.
