Bequia

Bequia

Bequia is the hidden secret of experienced Caribbean sailors. Surrounded by warm, shallow seas, reefs and ideal sailing winds, it’s ideal for exploring the Tobago Cays.

Grenadine Sailing’s Ground Zero

Fly under the radar to find the most flawless sailing conditions in the Windwards. They’re at Bequia (‘beck-way’) in the central Grenadines. It’s also diving heaven, blessed with over 30 renowned sites. You’ll glide among thriving coral with moray eels, hawksbill turtles and countless reef fish. Low-lying Bequia offers your yacht serene harbors like Admiralty Bay. And a Y.CO charter gives you unfettered access to all these top-tier sights.

Reasons to Visit Bequia

The Yachting World Flocks Here

Yachting connoisseurs flock to Bequia’s wonderful sailing. Why? Perfect waters and isolated cays, backed by top-notch marine services. The stamp-sized Tobago Cays – and their 1,400 enveloping acres of marine sanctuary – should top your sailing bucket list. Moor to a buoy and flop overboard to swim with eagle rays and hawksbill turtles in this sandy bottomed, 50-sq mile lagoon. Want more reasons to book a Bequia charter? Read on.

The Bequia Regatta

Love yacht racing? Easter weekend means the Bequia Regatta, the biggest in the Grenadines. Don’t miss the main ‘Easter Regatta’ (there are five lesser races) where fast, traditionally built boats skim sparkling waters. A Y.CO charter gets you close to the action – your Captain will moor just outside the race zone. Onshore, food, rum and fun abound. The biggest party is Sunday’s Lay Day. Sailors and fun-seekers cheer the racers on.

Diving the Boulders

Divers in the know head straight to this one-of-a-kind reef – so named, for its giant, volcanic boulders. Have your underwater cameras at the ready for the friendly nurse sharks and hawksbill turtles that patrol its perimeter. Otherwise, gardens of soft coral proliferate just offshore (full of cleverly camouflaged seahorses and frogfish) or you can paddle the swim-throughs and say hi to giant green morays and red-banded lobster.

Tobago Cays

Always dreamt of sailing the fabled Tobago Cays? Its Marine Park is only accessible by boat. Your Y.CO luxury yacht skipper will know all the sites. Four-kilometre Horseshoe Reef and its abundant sea turtles is where to start. Egg Reef, Mayreau Gardens and the wreck of the Purina also offer top-class diving, too – elkhorn coral and rays are a dead cert. Once you’re done, dine on ultra-fresh lobster at Nadi’s on super-chilled Mayreau.
