Nevis

Nevis may be quieter than neighbouring St Kitts, but it is every bit as rewarding. This lush volcanic island in the Leeward Islands offers rainforest trails, tropical wildlife, pristine beaches and some of the Caribbean's most beautiful natural scenery.

Unwind on Nevis

More chilled than its northerly twin, Nevis supports abundant greenery in its volcanic soil. Hibiscus, bougainvillea and many other tropical flowers attract hummingbirds. Believe us, you’ll be enchanted by these tiny iridescent birds as they hover from flower to flower. The slopes of 970m Mt Nevis are streaked with trails for mountain biking, hiking, and even horse riding. Once your Y.CO captain drops you off, you might decide one day isn’t enough. Here’s why.

Scuba Diving

Of course this coral-fringed Leeward island has plenty to excite divers. With clear waters offering visibility of over 20m – and wrecks including the MV Christina, 18th-century HMS Solebay and the tanker MV Talata – you’ll want to stay under all day. Mini-walls, ledges and white holes shelter an abundance of moray eels, octopus and vividly-coloured fish. Shore diving isn’t really feasible, so you’ll need your Y.CO charter to visit the best spots.

Nevis’s Colonial Legacy

Sleepy and little-visited it may be today, Nevis has a history that outstrips its size – Horatio Nelson was stationed here as the French and English squabbled over who actually ‘owned’ it. Sugar was a major industry here and the evocative ruins of Montravers, Eden Brown and other estates remain. From your Y.CO yacht’s mooring at Tamarind Bay, hire a taxi to take them all in.

Swimming With Turtles

Who doesn’t love sharing the water with these leisurely, leathery shellbacks? The sheltered and shallow seas of Nevis’s northern side are especially promising for encounters with Leatherbacks, Green-Seas, Loggerheads and rare Hawksbills. Your Y.CO yacht’s tender can take you straight to the most turtle-teeming spots, then wait at anchor to take you back to the luxuries of your luxury Nevis yacht charter.
