Y.CO is proud to support the Lewis Moody Foundation, which was created by former England rugby captain Lewis Moody in order to offer support for children living with brain tumours and their families.
Family Days
The foundation works with The Brain Tumour Charity to provide family days for brain cancer sufferers and their families, in order to give them the chance to escape the daily routines of medicine and hospital visits that can put a lot of strain on family relationships, and also provide opportunities to create special memories together.
Headsmart
The Foundation also supports Headsmart – a UK-wide campaign aimed at raising awareness and reducing the diagnosis time of childhood brain tumours.
PNET5 Trial
Many children with brain tumours will have to live the rest of their lives with the life limiting side effects from their aggressive chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment, including loss of balance, blindness or severe problems with hearing and most recently, the Foundation has funded PNET5, a pioneering clinical trial which aims to tailor treatments for children to improve their quality of life whilst maintaining the effectiveness of treatment.

“By supporting the Lewis Moody Foundation Y.CO is helping to raise money to fund vital research into brain tumours, reduce diagnosis times through the HeadSmart campaign and give families affected much needed respite and the chance to create special memories. The money we have raised together has also helped to promote awareness about and reduce the diagnosis time of childhood brain tumours. So far, the campaign has reduced the diagnosis time from over 13 weeks to 6.5 weeks. It is now aiming to reduce this further to 4 weeks."
Y.CO Support
To date, Y.CO has raised a total of £286,500 for the foundation by sponsoring a series of expeditions designed to challenge the mental and physical strength of those taking part to the absolute limit. The money raised by Headnorth, HeadEast, Headwest has gone directly to the projects funded by The Foundation to support and give hope to families affected by the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour.
In January 2020, Y.CO Co-founders Charlie Birkett and Gary Wright will join Lewis on HEADSOUTH, an expedition to the South Pole.
