Bahia Herradura

Arrive at San José’s Juan Santamaria international airport, where you will be greeted by the captain of Kensho. On your way to Bahia Herradura to board the yacht, discover Costa Rica’s west coast by road. Board, meet the crew and enjoy an evening cruise to Tortuga island. Relax at anchor in surroundings of extraordinary beauty and stillness.

Isla Tortuga

After a sumptuous breakfast prepared by Kensho five-star chef, visit the tropical forest at curú wildlife refuge. Explore with an expert local Costa Rican master naturalist guide, spotting white-faced and mantled howler monkeys, white-nosed coatis, three-toed sloths, toucans and colourful butterflies backdropped by spectacular scenery. In the afternoon, relax at anchor next to Isla Tortuga. Swim, kayak, snorkel, dive or have fun on Kensho's water toys.

Pacuare River

After breakfast, transfer to the local Tambor airstrip and board a private plane for an unforgettable sightseeing trip across the country. Touch down in the Del Monte banana plantation and transfer to the Pacuare river for an exciting cruise or raft down one of the lushest rainforest waterways in the world. Lunch will be served alongside a beautiful waterfall as you enjoy the breathtaking beauty of one of the world’s greatest rafting rivers. Jump on an afternoon flight to the town of Quepos, taking in incredible views of the landscapes, and rejoin the crew for relaxing sunset drinks and dinner.

Isla del Cano

Spend the morning exploring the beaches and secret treasures of Isla del Cano. Snorkel the hidden world of underwater caves teeming with stingrays, schools of barracuda, whitetip sharks, spotted dolphins and thousands of reef fish in vibrant colours. Hike the island in search of the mysterious stone spheres left behind centuries ago by ancient diquís cultures. Later, enjoy a relaxing evening at anchor in stunning drake bay.

Drake Bay

Wake up at the stunning quiet Drake Bay, nestled in dense rainforest that flows down to the harbour. A small eco resort village is an inviting spot for a fresh juice or locally inspired cuisine.

Drake Bay’s main attraction is its proximity to Isla Cano, a Jurassic Park style island about 12 miles to the west in the crystal clear blue waters of the Pacific. A protected park, it offers world class snorkelling and diving, with whale sharks, manta rays, huge schools of pelagic fish and bright colourful corals.

Back in Drake Bay, explore on the yacht’s Waverunners, which will be ready to take you into one of the nearby jungle estuaries. Look out for howler monkeys, scarlet macaws and freshwater turtles as you cruise a land seemingly untouched by humans.

Experience Corcovado national park as you head for Sirena, the centre of this magnificent rainforest. Discover plants and animals found nowhere else on the planet, from wild cats to Costa Rica’s largest population of scarlet macaws and various species of monkeys.

Corcovado National Park

The Corcovado National Park is home to 5% of the world’s biodiversity, including jaguars, howler monkeys, tapirs, scarlet macaws, some of the world’s largest trees as well as thousands of different flora and fauna, covering an area of 424km². It includes 13 major ecosystems, ranging from wet lowland rain forest to mesmerising highland cloud forests down to mysterious mangrove swamps and even sandy beach habitats. The rarest and most endangered animals that Costa Rica has to offer reside here: the red-backed squirrel monkey, 40 species of frog, dozens of snakes, 28 species of lizards, 100 species of butterflies and at least 10,000 other insects (some of which you hope not to bump into). Off the coast of the park, there are many schools of hammerhead sharks with crocodiles and bull sharks patrolling the Corcovado Lagoon and the estuaries of Rios Claro and Sirena. In short, a wildlife adventurer's dream destination and somewhere that will provide and unrivalled and unforgettable experiences.

Qualified as “the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity” by National Geographic, the tropical rain forest with a multitude of species will keep you amazed. You may even spot endangered species like jaguars or scarlet macaws.

Golfito

Golfito is Costa Rica’s most southern port town; it located across from the Osa Peninsula on the Golfo Dulce. Golfito has long been know to surfers as the gateway to Pavones, just to the south, and to sport fishermen as the year round sport fishing meca.

Golfo Dulce

Following a 70 nautical mile overnight cruise, wake up to the spectacular anchorage of Little Bay (Golfo Dulce). Surrounded by dense green jungle and towering mountains, this anchorage is located inside the only tropical fjord in America. Spend the day experiencing the rainforest, waterfalls and wildlife. Take a tender through the mangroves; visit the Botanical Garden, a wonderful tropical paradise; and hike easy trails inside the Golfito National Park, a luxury jungle home to the small Titi monkeys. Fill any gaps in your day with various water sports, from jet skis to kayaks.

Boquete

Travel south to Puerto Armuelles in Panama, where private transport will take you to the famous cloud forest near Boquete. Hike the remote virgin forest surrounding the perimeter of Volcan Baru national park, taking in waterfalls and spotting wildlife, including rare resplendent quetzels, monkeys, sloths and 200+ species of tropical bird.

Isla de Coiba

Cruise to Isla de Coiba, the largest island in Central America. Snorkel and dive the reefs, or try the area’s fantastic deep sea fishing. Abundant sealife here includes turtles, several species of whale and bright colourful fish. Later, experience Coiba's lush tropical rainforests, rich in biodiversity and home to rare creatures including the iconic red and green macaw.

On the last day of our charter, cruise back to Puerto Jiménez to disembark Kensho and fly to san josé for onward connection.
