Historic Paradise

This private island has amassed an extensive history. Bought in 1875 from the British Crown it was originally intended for farming land, when the land proved unfruitful it was sold and converted to a paradise garden with imported peacocks, turkeys, parrots and igunanas. The island was shared with guests, charging $1 a head to arrive by boat.

In WWII the Allies requisitioned th eisland for a year as a secret training base. 3 teams of British and American underwater demolition squads were stationed here to train and swim miles around the island every day. These days the Blue Lagoon is owned by a private family committed to preserving traditions and native bahamaian wildlife.
