Operation C-Phoenix

Making Waves in Antigua

The Antigua Charter Yacht Show once again became a platform for positive change with this year’s Operation C-Phoenix - a programme dedicated to supporting the coastal communities and landscapes that yachting relies on. Building on the success of 2024’s initiative, the Y.CO Team worked with Yacht Aid Global to deliver meaningful impact. From delivering essential school supplies to inspiring future maritime professionals and championing sustainability, this programme shows what can be achieved when the yachting industry comes together with purpose.

School Supplies

A Lifeline for Local Classrooms

This year, Operation C-Phoenix delivered tangible impact where it matters most - education. Y.CO donated 18 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, alongside a substantial contribution from industry partner Kelly Smitten. Together, these donations were distributed by Yacht Aid Global to four schools across Antigua, helping ensure students have the tools they need to succeed.

With Nautica Assistance offering year-round logistics support, including the collection and delivery of donated items, the programme is well positioned to continue and expand.

Student Yacht Visits

Inspiring the Next Generation

Twenty-four students and six teachers were welcomed aboard Y.CO’s fleet during the Antigua Charter Show for an introduction to the world of yachting. Through yacht tours and open conversations with crew and brokers, students gained insight into career pathways within the industry. The yachts also kindly provided each student with a picnic lunch, adding to a memorable and thoughtful experience.

Following the visits, Antigua’s National Sailing Academy met with the students to inform them of local sailing and training opportunities which can open the door and allow for a seamless transition into the maritime and yachting industry. Several local success stories were highlighted, encouraging the students to get involved.

Community Support

Medical Supplies for First Responders

As part of Operation C-Phoenix, Y.CO also supported Antigua and Barbuda Search & Rescue (ABSAR), a volunteer-led organisation providing critical land and sea emergency response. Medical supplies were donated to assist ABSAR in their ongoing work supporting local communities, marinas, and coastal areas across the island. The potential for future collaborations with the yachting industry and the local community to increase awareness was discussed enthusiastically.

Protecting Marine Ecosystems

Eco-Action with Fauna & Flora and EAG

Environmental responsibility was a key focus as Y.CO collaborated with Fauna & Flora Caribbean and the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) to support offshore island exploration tours for yacht crew. Led by local biologists and ecologists, these immersive experiences showcase Antigua’s island restoration projects and endangered species recovery efforts. By connecting crew directly with conservation work on the ground, the tours help build awareness, advocacy, and long-term support for protecting the marine environments that yachting depends on.

Beach Clean-Up

Turning the Tide on Waste

Working alongside Adopt-A-Coastline, Y.CO encouraged participation of brokers, crew, and vendors in a post-show beach clean-up across English Harbour. Collectively, more than 600 gallons of waste, including a mattress, were removed from Cherry Hill Beach. The initiative restored natural beauty while strengthening community connections and promoting a circular approach to waste management.

Looking Ahead

We invite interested yachts, crew and the wider yachting community to join us and become involved with Operation C-Phoenix for 2026 and beyond. There will be a range of opportunities to support local education, inspire future maritime talent, take part in environmental initiatives, and contribute to conservation and waste management projects that make a lasting difference.
